US baker Hostess Brands, which is selling off its assets, will start an auction for brands including Sweetheart and Standish Farms after getting a series of offers.
Hostess said an auction of four brands, also including Eddy’s and Grandma Emilie’s, will start today (15 March) after it received “additional qualified offers”.
In January, Hostess had named United States Bakery as the stalking horse bidder for the assets. United States Bakery has offered to pay $30m for the brands, four bakeries, 14 depots and other assets.
Hostess, which decided in November to wind down its business after strikes paralysed its operations, is looking for court approval for four already-agreed deals.
