Premier Foods plc marketing director Jon Goldstone will leave the UK food company after it decided to absorb the department into its commercial structure.
The UK’s largest food manufacturer said a review of the marketing team needed to support its strategy, resulted in a decision to “move to a more integrated approach”.
As a result, Premier said group marketing director Goldstone had informed the company of his desire to “explore other senior marketing opportunities outside of the business”.
Commenting on Goldstone’s decision, Iwan Williams, MD for Premier’s bakery and grocery business, said: “Jon has made an outstanding contribution over the four years that he has been with the company, leading our marketing strategy for Hovis before taking on the role of group marketing director. During this time, he has been responsible for some excellent marketing campaigns including the award-winning ‘Go on Lad’ Hovis commercial. We wish him all the best for the future.”
Williams, who joined Premier in November to lead Premier’s bakery division, was last month handed the dual role of managing director of bakery and grocery – at least on an interim basis – after Graham Hunter, the executive lined up for the role, decided to join Tangerine Confectionery. Williams will continue in both roles until a decision is made on whether to recruit for the position of MD of the company’s grocery unit.
Goldstone will leave the company later this month.
