Dairy-free yoghurt manufacturer CoYo has moved into ice cream with the launch of a coconut-based range.

The line is 100% free of dairy, lactose, gluten and egg and is available is four flavours: Vanilla & Nutmeg; Raw Chocolate; Natural; and Sticky Date and Tamarind.

The ice cream is made with the cream extracted from coconut, and is produced without any added sugar and sweetened with natural fruit extracts from apples and grapes, the company said.

“The health benefits of coconut as a super food are becoming more widely known now – it is highly nutritious, satisfies hunger and increases metabolism,” said CoYo founder Bethany Eaton. “Our ice cream range is the first of its kind in the – it has a wonderful, fresh and creamy flavour, and it’s good for you too.”

CoYo Ice Cream is available in 500ml pots nationwide at Wholefoods Market, Planet Organic stores, plus independent health stores and delis around the UK. It has an RRP of GBP6.99 (US$10.54).
