The ex-CFO of Canadian retailer Metro Inc has joined George Weston, the owner of rival grocer Loblaw.

Richard Dufresne, who quit Metro earlier this month, will join George Weston as its CFO on 26 March.

Dufresne, who has spent six years as Metro’s finance chief, held various senior positions within the banking sector before his role with Metro.

Pavi Binning, George Weston’s president, said: “Richard is a hands-on and an extremely qualified finance executive. With his extensive experience and proven track record of success as a CFO, we believe he will make a substantial contribution to the company and will be a welcome addition to our executive team”.
