Aldi will today (18 February) open its first store in New York City as the discount retail giant looks to help consumers in the Big Apple “stretch their grocery dollars”.
The German retailer’s first outlet in New York City will be in Queens Borough and the company plans to open two more stores – one in the Bronx and another in Bay Shore.
“At Aldi, everything we do is designed with one goal in mind – to help our customers stretch their grocery dollars. We provide great quality products and low prices every single day that our shoppers have come to know and count on,” Bruce Persohn, Aldi’s South Windsor divisional vice president, said.
Aldi first entered the US in 1976 and now has over 1,100 stores in the country. “Our growth is a testament to our popularity with consumers and the loyalty of our long-time customers,” Persohn added.
