Mondelez International is in talks with staff over possible job cuts within Cadbury’s design team at its Bournville plant in the UK.
The snacks group, formed earlier this month when Kraft Foods split in two, said it is in discussions with employees in Cadbury’s “design services” team at the factory.
Reports in the UK had claimed up to 40 staff could be affected, although a spokesperson said the number of permanent, full-time roles under discussion was “a lot less” thanks to freelance work used within the team.
“Unfortunately, we have had to propose this move in order to provide greater design flexibility for the business across the UK and Europe. We are unable to give any further details at this stage because we are now in consultation with those affected and it’s only right we discuss next steps with them first,” the spokesperson told just-food.
