UK snacks manufacturer United Biscuits has launched a sharing pack of larger versions of its Hula Hoops crisps.
The company said today (25 July) that Hula Hoops Big Hoops will be sold in three flavours – original, sour cream & chive and sweet chili – and in 160g packs. The bags will have an MRRP of GBP1.93 (US$3.15).
United Biscuits is also launching a 100g BBQ pack priced at GBP1 specifically for the convenience market, which it said will “help retailers capitalise on the sharing trend and consumer demand for price marked packs”.
“Sharing formats are doing great business for retailers at the moment and are worth GBP633m across all channels,” said United Biscuits bagged snacks marketing director George Johnston.
“However, it is interesting to note that they are growing even faster in impulse, at 15%, than grocery, which is up 11%. This demonstrates that consumers want to pick up a snack at their local convenience store that they can share with family and friends and is very much in line with the growing demand for big night in products.”
