McCain Foods will tomorrow (16 September) hold talks with union officials in Australia after a strike at one of its plants in the country.
A spokesman for McCain confirmed today that negotiations would be held at national industrial relations tribunal Fair Work Australia tomorrow morning.
The talks follow a 24-hour strike by 40 maintenance workers at McCain’s Ballarat plant yesterday. The industrial action led to McCain standing down 300 production staff at the site.
McCain said it had offered the maintenance workers a 9% pay hike over three years but claimed the industrial action was “in relation to other claims”.
Union officials could not be reached for immediate comment.
