Indian dairy group Amul is looking to boost its presence in the country’s fledgling better-for-you dairy category with a slew of product launches.
The company has launched Calci+, a calcium-fortified milk brand, and plans this week to unveil low-salt butter.
Later this month, Amul will also start selling probiotic yoghurt, R. S. Sodhi, the company’s chief general manager, told just-food today (15 January).
Sodhi said: “As far as India is concerned probiotic products are a new product. The market is fresh with lots of potential but needs to be educated about its health benefits. Having other players in this segment is good for all.”
Last month, Danone and Yakult launched the well-known Japanese probiotic drink in India.
