Wal-Mart de México has booked a 4.4% increase in same-store sales for the first quarter of 2010.

For the three-month period, the company known as Walmex said total sales climbed 17.3%.

The company is planning a substantial expansion programme in Mexico this year, with the opening of 300 units in Mexico City.

The units will include self-service Bodega Aurrera, Walmart, and Superama stores; Sam’s Club price clubs; Suburbia apparel stores; and Vips restaurants.
