UK dairy group Dairy Crest has announced plans to transfer the milk collection operations of its Davidstow creamery to Devon-based Gregory Distribution.

The move is part of Dairy Crest’s bid to reduce costs and improve margins and is part of an on-going review of operations, a spokesperson for the group told just-food today (6 November).
“We are trying not to pass rising input costs onto consumers and are reviewing all our operations with a view to cutting production costs,” the spokesperson said.

Dairy Crest said that it is committed to reducing costs in order to allow continued investment in the business.
The transfer will come into effect on 1 December. Staff will transfer to Gregory with the same terms and conditions.
The company added that its service to milk suppliers will be unaffected.
