Canada’s largest food retailer Loblaw is launching a price freeze on a large number of its food products for the month of January.

The national price freeze, which offers “guaranteed locked pricing” on grocer, fresh, health and beauty products, will apply to “tens of thousands” of products, the company said yesterday (7 January).

“We’ll do whatever we can to help our customers make it through these financially challenging times,” said Inge van den Berg, vice president, public affairs and investor relations, Loblaw.

“That’s why we’re happy to freeze pricing on such a huge array of products across the board in our stores so customers need not worry about inflation or the price of their food – it’s the least we can do to show customers our support and help them start 2009 off on the right foot.”
