The US has delayed the introduction of new retaliatory tariffs against EU food exports, including a proposed 300% duty on French cheese Roquefort.

The tariffs have has been delayed from March 23 to April 23, the US Trade Representative (USTR) office announced.
This follows progress in negotiations with the European Commission on the EU’s hormone-treated beef ban. The US already imposes World Trade Organisation authorised tariffs over this issue and in January announced it would extend these punitive duties.
This sparked further talks, which USTR spokesperson Nefeterius McPherson just-food “have made progress”.
“The USTR has decided to delay the trade action…to give this process every possibility of success,” he commented.
