The managing director of Nestlé Vietnam has told the Vietnam News Agency that the company intends to continue investing in Vietnam’s coffee industry and assist the country in improving its coffee quality.

Pierre Schaufelberger said that Nestlé intended to help Vietnam import high-quality coffee seedlings, and would also invite experts to train local farmers in planting, cultivating, preserving and processing coffee for export.


Schaufelberger also said that the company would provide up-to-date information on world coffee prices.


Nestlé first moved into Vietnam in 1993, and its operations represent 20% to 25%, 200,000 to 250,000 tons, of total Vietnamese coffee exports. In 2006, the Swiss-based food giant provided 5,000 high-grade coffee seedlings to an institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and to farmers in Dong Nai province for trial.
