French retail giant Carrefour is poised to announce a joint venture with Indian business Wadia, according to the Financial Times.

Its Asian expansion would follow hotly on the heals of Wal-Mart Stores, which in November set up a joint venture with India’s Bharti Enterprises, vowing to “jointly explore business opportunities” in the country.

At the start of the month just-food reported that Carrefour was close to signing a deal in the country, as confirmed by India’s Trade Minister Kamal Nath.
