French ingredient company Naturex posted a 13% increase in first-half revenue today (23 July), boosted by sales in the company’s North American division.

For the six-month period, revenues reached EUR54.4m (US$77.4m), a 3.7% increase in dollar terms.

North America led the way, generating 60.2% of group sales over the period. The EU accounted for 31.1% of total group sales, while Asia, where the company is continuing to reinforce its sales network, notched up 2.7%.

The group’s nutrition and health division represented 65% of half-year revenues, compared to 29.1% for food and beverage and 1.2% for the company’s personal care business.

Jacques Dikansky, chairman and CEO, said that “above and beyond the quarterly changes in activity”, the group is able to draw upon what remains “a highly favourable underlying trend” linked to the growing demand for natural products.

“We also have a number of sources for further growth in various geographical regions and market segments. Mid-year, we are confident that we will achieve the targets set for 2009. The new expected increase in our operating margin should be clearly reflected in our half-yearly results,” Dikansky said.
