Perdigao Agroindustrial and Grandi Salumifici Italiani have concluded negotiations that will see Perdigao acquire Sino dos Alpes Alimentos Ltda, a processed meats unit located in Bom Retiro do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul.

The deal, valued at BRL8.5m (US$4.06m), will give Perdigao access to the Senfter and Casa Modena brands in Brazil for a fixed period of two years. In the short term, Perdigao said that it would focus on optimising Alpes’ production capacity through the introduction of new technology and know-how.
The agreement also saw the two companies enter into a memorandum of understanding for the exchange of technology and mutual sale of products from their respective portfolios.
