Mexico’s National Association of Supermarkets and Department Stores (Antad) has said its members’ September same-store sales edged up 0.5% compared with the year-ago period.
Antad, which covers almost 100 retail chains in Mexico, said total sales in September increased 6.5%.
Sales from Wal-Mart de Mexico (Walmex), majority owned by US retail giant Wal-Mart, are not included in the data. Walmex left Antad last year after a dispute about comparative pricing displays, reported Reuters.
Walmex posted a 0.3% rise in September same-store sales, while total sales rose 5.5% to 8.79bn pesos (US$789m).
