US meat processor Tyson Foods is to form its second venture to make synthetic fuel from animal fats.
The company said yesterday (25 June) that it would join forces with Syntroleum Corp. to set up the venture, Dynamic Fuels. The business will target the renewable diesel, jet, and military fuel markets.
Tyson president and CEO Richard Bond said the company’s investment in the 50/50 venture would help it become a “premier player in renewable energy” in the US.
Bond said: “We believe this venture will add value to our business, give animal agriculture another opportunity to participate in the production of renewable fuels and is also an environmentally sound way to contribute to America’s energy security.”
