Major US supermarket operator Albertsons has agreed to sell more than 80 food lines imported from Vietnam.
Following a successful eight-month trial, the deal has been struck with TDA Trading, a California-based distributor of Vietnamese goods. TDA Trading director Nguyen Vu Phong told Asia Pulse that the deal initially involves the distribution of food products through seven supermarkets in southern California over the coming six months to one year. This is to be followed by nationwide distribution through 2,300 supermarkets, and VuPhong is also hopeful of securing contracts with other major multiples.
Vietnamese goods to be offered include coffee, instant noodles and confectionery products as well as fish, chilli and soybean sauces, rice cakes, peanuts, and processed refrigerated food.
