Chino, California-based Provena Foods has reported a net loss of US$469,397 on sales of US$36,007,139 for the year 2001 compared to a net loss of US$878,121 on net sales of US$27,309,361 for 2000.

The company had a net loss of US$142,125 for the Q4 of 2001 compared to net earnings of US$27,596 for Q4 2000.
The sales increase, said the company, is attributable to the meat division, which increased its sales by 41% and realized an annual operating profit of US$435,580. The meat division realized its first annual operating profit in its new meat plant in the second full year of operations in the new plant.
