The European Commission has released a guide to doing business in Cambodia, which lists the food industry as a sector best poised to prosper in this Southeast Asian kingdom.
It says that the European Union’s (EU) strong agro-industrial sector could profit from selling equipment, inputs and services to the Cambodian food production sector, as its “food processing countries grow in size and sophistication”.
Highlighted needs include cold storage, slaughterhouses, fish and seafood processing plant and packaging equipment, plus engineering, technical and quality certification services. It adds that being largely free of large polluting industries, Cambodia is well placed to develop an organic food sector.
