Good Humor-Breyers, an operating unit of Anglo-Dutch food and consumer goods giant Unilever, has said it is to launch its first light ice cream products aimed at low-carbohydrate dieters.
The company said Breyers CarbSmart Light Vanilla Fudge Sundae and Breyers CarbSmart Light Chocolate Peanut Butter ice creams have half the fat and 40% fewer calories than regular ice cream, and 4g net carbs (per half-cup serving).
The new light flavours join Breyers’ line of CarbSmart ice cream products first introduced in late 2003 and expanded last year.
“Although low-carb diets may have peaked, carbohydrate awareness is here to stay. Since their introduction, Breyers CarbSmart ice cream products quickly became best-sellers throughout 2004 with four flavours among the top ten new packaged ice cream,” the company said.
