Kraft Foods, the world’s second largest food company, has announced that it intends to establish its operations in Singapore as international headquarters in order to facilitate expansion in the Asia Pacific region.
“Kraft Foods already has a significant presence in the Asia Pacific Region, and Singapore is a natural choice for us to set up our regional headquarters because of its excellent infrastructure, business-friendly environment, and highly skilled workforce” said Arjun Gupta, president of Kraft Foods, Asia Pacific.
“With large emerging economies such as China and India located in the region, Singapore is ideally situated for us to intensify our activities in Asia’s booming consumer markets. A senior management team is based in Singapore to help Kraft chart and implement our programmes to drive growth,” he continued.
Kraft’s Asia Pacific strategy focuses on driving growth in the region by focusing on developing countries such as China, India and Indonesia. The company has expressed its intention to introduce products suited to Asian consumer tastes, build its brands, expand its distribution network and develop its local employee base.
Kraft currently has a presence in a number of countries in the region, including Australia, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Japan, Korea and New Zealand. It has 12 manufacturing plants in Southeast Asia, Greater China and Australia.
