The board of food group Glanbia has elected Michael Walsh as chairman, succeeding Tom Corcoran who has retired as chairman and director of the company, according to a report on the Irish business website Business World.


Walsh has been vice chairman of the board since 1996. He has also been appointed chairman of Glanbia Co-operative Society and is a director of the Irish Co-operative Organisation Society and the Irish Dairy Board Co-operative. He farms at Graiguenamanagh, Co. Kilkenny.


The Glanbia board also elected Victor Quinlan as vice-chairman in succession to Walsh. He has also been appointed vice-chairman of Glanbia Co-operative Society and is a director of a number of Irish companies including Irish Sugar and Malting Company of Ireland. Liam Herlihy continues in his capacity as a vice-chairman of the board.
 
Glanbia has also appointed three new non-executive directors, Paul Haran, Matthew Merrick and Michael Keane and the retirement of Thomas Heffernan as a director.
