Privately held Vietnamese jam maker Vinamit has announced it is now generating the majority of its turnover from exports.
The company has been able to fulfil growing consumer demand for preserves made from exotic fruits such as jackfruit, banana, guava, mango and sweet potato. Exports generated revenues of US$6.7m in the first half of this year, accounting for 60% of overall sales.
Vinamit already dominates the Vietnamese market with a 90% market share, and expects total sales of VND150bn (US$9.4m) this year.
Vinamit has invested in establishing a 10,000 ha material production area in the southern provinces of Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc.
