Japanese retailer Seiyu is planning to improve its own-label product offering in a bid to boost sales and earnings.

Seiyu, an affiliate of US retail giant Wal-Mart, plans to double the percentage of overall sales that profitable private-label products account for to 20% in the next three years, according to the Nikkei Report.

The company has 860 products under its Fine Select brand, and has also adopted Wal-Mart’s Great Value brand. Within a year Seiyu plans to add 100 items to its Great Value food line. The Fine Select brand is to become a premium private label brand, reported the Nihon Keizai Shimbun.
