An International Chewing Gum Association has been launched, backed by the world’s largest producers, including Cadbury, Gumlink, Intergum, Leaf International, Lotte, Perfetti Van Melle and Wrigley.
At an inaugural meeting in Athens, Greece, Stefan Pfander, vice president of the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company was elected the association’s first president. He told his colleagues: “Our objective is to speak with one global voice and to seek harmonisation of regulations between countries and continents.” The association will be based in Brussels, where Jean Savigny, senior partner of law firm Keller & Heckman will be general counsel. ICGA members generate more than 80% of the world chewing gum industry’s revenues.
