Four out of five UK consumers do not trust food manufacturers to be honest about their products, new research from Kettle Chips has found.

The survey conducted by the premium crisp producer found that 78% of consumers do not trust manufacturers to tell the truth about how their food was produced.

Meanwhile, respondents revealed that they are increasingly concerned about how food was produced and what it contain, with 70% of consumers checking labels before they buy. According to the survey, half of UK consumers have now made the conscious decision to remove artificial ingredients from their diets. Two-thirds said they were happy to pay more for products made from ‘real’ ingredients.

Emphasising Kettle’s own credentials, Kettle MD Jeremy Bradley commented: “Looking at the results of the survey, it seems food manufactures need to try harder than ever to earn the right to consumers trust.”
