The global food industry noticed a 9.4% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 over the previous month, led by Nestle’s 16.89% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The food industry’s overall hiring activity increased 21.32% when compared with October 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 1.28% share of the global food industry’s hiring activity in November 2022, down 0.5% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of November 2022 were 10.62% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 20.33% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 27.95% emerged as the top IT occupation in the food hiring activity in November 2022, a 23.98% decline over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 27.77% in November 2022, down 1.33% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer and Information Analysts with a 21.2% share in November 2022, a decline of 22.6% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 15.38% share in November 2022 and a drop of 13.68% over October 2022.
Top five food companies by recruitment activity in November 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 30.56% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global food industry during November 2022 over October 2022.
Nestle posted 90 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a rise of 328.57% over the previous month, followed by J. R. Simplot with 67 jobs and a 9.46% decline. Ferrero International with 27 IT jobs and Bunge with 26 jobs, recorded a 58.82% growth and a 27.78% drop, respectively, while Rich Products recorded a 21.88% drop with 25 job postings during November 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in food industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global food IT hiring activity in November 2022 with a 50.47% share, which marked a 25.9% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 28.52%, registering a 2.56% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 15.2% share and a 42.55% drop over October 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 3.75% and a month-on-month rise of 42.86%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 2.06%, registering a 120% increase over the previous month.
