IT jobs accounted for a 1.08% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering a decrease of 0.07% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 29.39% in October 2022, a 9.73% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 23.05% in October 2022, marking a 9.09% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 18.44% in October 2022, a 14.67% drop from September 2022.

Top five food companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 18.94% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s food industry during October 2022 over previous month.
J. R. Simplot posted 74 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a decline of 31.48% over the previous month, followed by McCain Foods with 36 jobs and a flat growth. Rich Products with 32 IT jobs and Bunge with 31 jobs, recorded a 30.43% drop and a 20.51% drop, respectively, while JBS recorded a 67.65% decline with 11 job postings during October 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s food industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s food industry IT hiring activity with a 95.1% share in October 2022, a 14.73% decrease over September 2022. Canada featured next with a 4.03% share, down 17.65% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.86% share, a drop of 25% compared with September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.52%, down by 10.26% from September 2022. Entry Level positions with an 18.73% share, registered a decline of 29.35% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 14.41% share, down 27.54% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 6.34%, recording a month-on-month growth of 69.23%.
