Bankrupt US grocery distributor Fleming has sold its core wholesale business to four buyers instead of the single buyer it had previously identified.

Fleming said in a regulatory filing that it has sold wholesale distribution facilities in California, Hawaii and Wisconsin to C&S Wholesale Grocers, reports Dow Jones News Service. Fleming also sold its facility in Garland to Houston-based Grocers Supply, its Miami operations to Associated Grocers of Florida, and facilities in the Midwest and Southeast to Associated Wholesale Grocers of Kansas City. Terms of the sales were not disclosed.
Fleming had previously agreed to sell its wholesale business to C&S in a deal worth US$400m.
Fleming, which filed for bankruptcy in April, also announced that its interim chief executive, Peter S Willmott, has resigned and will be replaced by chairman Archie R Dykes. Willmott is to remain a director of the company.
