Mexico has exported its first shipment of beef to South Korea, following the Asian country’s ban on imports of US beef.
Mexico’s export bank said a firm in south-eastern Mexico exported a shipment of beef to South Korea in what it hoped would be the start of a long-term business deal, reported Agence France Presse.
South Korea was one of several countries to ban imports of US beef in December following the discovery of a case of BSE, or mad cow disease, in a cow in Washington state.
Before the ban, South Korea’s main beef suppliers were the US, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
