The US is set to introduce import duties on shrimp from parts of Asia and Latin America in a move welcomed by American shrimpers.

The US Commerce Department said the anti-dumping duties would be imposed on frozen and canned warm water shrimp from Brazil, Ecuador, India and Thailand by the end of next week, reported Reuters.
US shrimpers had accused several countries of selling shrimp in the US at below market prices. Duties have already been set for shrimp from China and Vietnam.
However, the Shrimp Task Force, which represents consumers and restaurants, said the duties would lead to a lower shrimp supply, which in turn would lead to higher prices and job cuts.
