Cité Marine, the French supplier of private-label, breadcrumb-coated fish products, has acquired Brittany-based counterpart Halieutis Fish & Co., following exclusive talks that began earlier this spring.
A company spokesperson confirmed on Friday (2 June) a deal had been reached.
The value of the transaction has not been disclosed.
With an annual turnover of EUR30m and employing more than 80 staff, Halieutis Fish was put up for sale by parent company, Roullier, which no longer considered it a strategic asset.
The spokesperson said Cité Marine would not be commenting further on the acquisition beyond the statement it issued to announce the negotiations with Roullier in which the company’s president and CEO, Eric Le Henaff emphasised the complementary nature of the two companies’ product range.
Majority-owned by Japanese group Nissui since 2007, Cité Marine is also investing EUR13m in a new production plant at its headquarters in Kervignac, due to growing demand for its breadcrumb-coated fish products.
