Chilean supermarket chain Santa Isabel has said it has transferred its units in Paraguay and Peru to its parent company, Disco, a subsidiary of Dutch retail giant Ahold, paving the way for Ahold to sell the assets.

Ahold announced earlier this year that it intends to sell the Latin American units after accounting irregularities at its US Foodservice unit led to profits being overstated by US$880m.
Disco will assume the debts of Supermercados Stock in Paraguay and Santa Isabel in Peru, reported Reuters.
Ahold is also in the process of selling Chilean Santa Isabel to Chile’s Cencosud.
